OK OK OK!!  Here it is!!!  The giveaway to end all giveaways is this lantern from BROWN, located in Houston.  It’s the exact lantern I used in my client’s breakfast room and it is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!   The lantern comes in small and large – and the winner will receive the LARGE one – with a retail value of $1,500!   How nice is that of Jill Brown, owner of BROWN?????   I am still stunned by Jill’s generosity.  Well, not really.  Jill is one of the nicest peeps I know.  Truly, truly nice.  She has this aura of niceness that surrounds her face, I swear!!!

image

Remember when I did a story about Jill’s unique and wonderful house HERE?

image Jill’s store BROWN is one of my favorite haunts in Houston.

image It is filled with things she buys overseas in Belgium and France along with things she finds in the United States.  Some merchandise is antique, some is new.

image You never know what you will find in her shop.  But it will be fabulous, that’s for sure!  Jill designs her own incredible lighting line – something she specializes in.

 image

Last year she had a party for Garden & Gun magazine.   The decorations were wonderful!  Read all about that party HERE.  I love that painted floor!

image The best part of the Garden & Gun party were the party favors that she placed on BROWN’S front porch, set up like a country store.   She’s so creative and generous!!  I took home a few of the gifts myself!  hehe.

image

So, how do you go about winning this $1,500. lantern?   Simple.  Just go visit Jill’s 1st Dibs store.  Look at all her things for sale, and pick out something you would want – money no object!  Come back and leave me a comment telling me which object you would choose!  That’s it!!!

I’ll pick a winner on FRIDAY!!!   So hurry up – visit her shop HERE, then leave me a comment.  That’s all you have to do.   NOTE:  If you post anonymously, be sure to leave your email address, just in case you win.

Good luck – and Jill:  thank you sooo very, very much, from the bottom of my heart!!!!  I love you!!

Love, love, love your blog. Daily inspiration for this one time designer who went back to work in the education world...my other passion. I found an old friend on here...Dana. She and I went to UofH together and I haven't seen her since '76. How wild is that?

  11. What a fabulous giveaway, Joni! This is so nice of Jill to do this for your readers!

I went to her site, and I loved everything. You know, being a magpie, I would say that, but I particularly loved two things. There is a darling antique drum shade that I fell in love with AND a wonderful polychrome and wood Belgian chandelier that is superbly wonderful.

What great things, and I absolutely LOVE the giveaway chandelier. Thank you both for a shot at winning this.

  119. After reading about her on your past blog I made 2 visits there about a month ago while in H-town. My main reason was to go see her lighting, i.e. the lanterns. I had a great time talking to Jill about the store itself and how the website she has is lovely but doesnt do justice to her store. That store is , hands down, the best store I have been in, probably EVER. And I'm talking internationally as well as nationally, France, Italy, Switzerland, California, Louisiana,Santa Fe, on & on.
    That girl is talented.
Working on this Wyoming log house is so much fun and most everything she has would be fabulous. She had so much in her store that isn't on her site or on 1st dibs, but my most favorite thing, hands down is the timeless custom-made Iron and glass 4 light lantern or some variation of that which is the give-away. The island or billiard light or the 3 light hanging fixture run close 2nd and 3rd. And the precious little amish log cabin she has in the store brought tears to my eyes. I brought 2 Houston girlfriends back with me the 2nd trip that live around the corner from the shop who had never been in b4 and they were equally impressed. I left with 2 sack-full of goodies that I could carry back on the plane with me to Wyoming but I will be back for my custom 4 -light lantern and a few more pieces when the architect specs the light fixtures.
Thanks Jill for being so creative and thanks Joni for introducing me to Brown.

Definitely one of the vintage Italian light fixtures (because they remind me of my childhood summers there), the overpainted mirror (just BECAUSE), and I absolutely LOVED that sideboard/hutch (which is already sold!). 147. This really is the giveaway of all giveaways! I don't enter many anymore, but this one is amazing!

I actually picked two items. For the house that I'll never have, I picked out the gray, antique store counter. I love it!

The more realistic favorite is set of antique Belgian pot racks. They're nickel plated and beautiful! Working in education, I'm destined to live in more modest homes and I know I could fit those into my future kitchen.

  152. Hi Joni and Hi Jill!

Loved the copper pots on your stove in Joni's post about your home, but on 1st Dibs, hmmmm....loved so many things. There are no stores in MI which match, or even come close to the depth of beautiful product available at Browns, 1st Dibs is a go to site, just like Cote de Texas. Loved the Napolean III Mahogany sideboard. Am loving the idea of it paired with the giveaway lantern, (WOW!) I was always the last kid picked on the playground at school, I am raising my hand, pick me......
