COTE DE TEXAS: Segreto Finishes Does Joni Webb

Segreto Finishes Does Joni Webb

image
Sitting area of bedroom in a house I designed.

A few years ago I worked on a house (above) where Leslie Sinclair painted some of the finishes.  Her company, Segreto Finishes, provides some of the most beautiful paint finishes you could ever find.  At this particular house, her crew changed plain cabinetry into a work of art.  The finish had depth and texture – and added so much to the rooms!  I was hooked and became a huge fan of Leslie’s.   And why not?  She is one talented lady.  She is also an incredible businesswoman – today she employs over 25 people who help her run Segreto Finishes.  Her specialty is a plaster finish that you have to see to believe how gorgeous it is!
Besides the paint finishes business, she has an art gallery.  Recently, we had Leslie on the Skirted Roundtable to talk about her latest endeavor – her new book.  If you haven’t ordered it – DO!  It is absolutely gorgeous, page after page of the most beautiful interiors that Leslie has worked on over the years.  It is remarkable.   I can’t remember seeing a design book that is so big, and so lush, and just so wonderful.   On top of all her accomplishments, Leslie is also a wife and mother to three grown children, some in and some out of college.   But, most importantly,  she is a nice person, one of the nicest that I’ve been truly blessed to have known.
SOOOO, imagine my delight and sheer excitement when Leslie called to tell me she was having her photographer Wade Blissard take pictures of the house I designed that Leslie had worked on.  And imagine my further delight when she informed me the house might be published soon in a national magazine!!  I am still reeling from the news.   And, to top all that, Leslie has featured me on her blog, Segreto, The Secret to Beautiful Living, HERE where she shows pictures of that house!!

Will you please click over to Leslie’s blog and read her story “Classic Design – Joni Webb?”  I would really love for you to help me show support for her story!

Also, starting today, you can now order Segreto on my blog.

Note:  Leslie will be signing books this April 19th in Baton Rouge.  More information about the signing can be found on her blog.

If you missed it the first time around, please listen to Leslie Sinclair on the Skirted Roundtable, HERE.

  7. Isn't it inspiring and deeply satisfying when people, whether individuals or groups, strive for excellence?

When they put their hearts and minds to the test and challenge themselves to be the very best they can be? Doesn't it enrich us all?

We need not all agree on any particular color or texture or design choice or approach but I hope we can agree that it is the soul of beauty to seek to attain the best one can. Not so much in comparison to others as in expression of the highest one has to offer.

Segreto reflects that ethic and that aesthetic.

And, in so very many ways, so does this blog. You, Joni, hold yourself to a higher standard than absolutely necessary. You never settle for just getting by. Not in your generous offerings, not in your responses to your readers, and not in your openness in entertaining a myriad of viewpoints.

We are enriched by you, Joni. We are enriched by Segreto--whether we ever have the privilege of engaging their services or not.

We are enriched by our fellow travelers on this planet when each of us gives his or her finest.

And when that happens, I, for one, am grateful. Thank you.

It is helping me to create my little dwelling into a sensuous and lovely place to call home. You are truly talented and this blogs is the by far the best on the internet. The interiors you designed for the house in this post brought tears to my eyes, looking at all of that perfection. So much class and beauty goes into your work.

  15. Joni, I stumbled onto this article already yesterday while searching for a couple of articles you had referenced in one of your comments. I think you have occasionally posted a picture or two of this project and they have always been impressive but when seen in the totality of this home, the job is simply beautiful. Congratulations on being published. This is well deserved. Loved all of the rooms and soothing and warm truly describes them.

  27. These rooms look absolutely amazing. There are so many things to consider when you Design A Room. I have found that Simply Decorate really makes it easier to picture the finished space, as well as find great ideas, inspiration, and pieces. While I do work for them, they are honestly worth checking out and have really helped me design my home.

  46. Joni, I haven't commented here in quite a while, but I must tell you how thrilled I am for you to be published in this book. Like others have said, you have worked hard and deserve all the best this business offers. This home is absolutely gorgeous! I hope this puts many of the "anonymous naysayers" in their places! Congrats!

    1. I don't think "anonymous naysayers" as you call them doubted Joni had talent. I think they probably thought she was stuck in her comfort zone. We don't know how much the owner had acquired already when Joni began the project, but it certainly is a lovely space and the house has great bones which is a plus for any designer. It is a space that one would not be likely to tire of (if ever) for a long time. That's what speaks to me about this project.

    2. Some people call it a comfort zone while some call it a designer's signature look. Either way, kudos Joni!

    3. WHEN I started the job, there was a grey velvet sectional, and edward fields graphic rug, dark gray walls, a square brown marble coffeetable, a large round tufted leather ottoman and large abstract art canvases.

the study had a a gray contemporary sofa with matching contemporary chairs.

the bedroom was...more of the same.
