COTE DE TEXAS: Milieu Magazine–The Fall 2014 Issue

Milieu Magazine–The Fall 2014 Issue

image

The new issue of Milieu Magazine is now available at newsstands and online, digitally.   This issue is a celebration of their First Anniversary!  Hard to believe, it’s already been a year since the magazine launched.

As usual, Milieu is full of eye candy.  The cover alone is so gorgeous – it’s perfection.  I especially love the white roses in a contemporary glass vase set on a classic silver tray!  So simple, yet so beautiful.  Usually the Southern Look is roses in a confit pot, but here the crystal looks so fresh --- love it and want to copy this,’ asap!

And as usual, there is a distinct flow to the magazine.  This issue it is the color indigo - that dark, inky blue – which is hinted at in advertisements and in stories.  Further, the colors cream and ivory provide a restful pause against all the indigo on the pages.

The advertisers get on board – here Carol Piper shows off a dark blue rug against the white walls of a beautiful manse.  Can you guess whose house it is?

This story, that showcases different fabrics in the indigo colorway, was staged at the owner of Chateau Domingue’s house.   It’s a fun glimpse at her bedroom – which looks more like a room in a farmhouse in Provence with all of Chateau Domingue’s architectural elements in place.   The stone ceiling is just stunning.

There is this story about a blue and white tiled room in Juan Pablo Molyneux’s Paris mansion.

Lots of cream and white and ivory act as a foil against the dark indigo that runs throughout the issue.  This is a beautiful house.

But, my favorite story is this one.   It’s a house decorated by popular blogger The Visual Vamp aka Valorie Hart.  What a fabulous honor for her design work to be included in Milieu!  Congrats Valorie!!!

  1. You are a consistent tease with gardens. Too often stopping at French doors & windows. Had great hopes with the subtitle, 'Homes & Gardens', but no go.

Doubt there is a news stand near me with Milieu. Tempted into action, will find one near a client appointment.

Garden & Gun magazine, I like, too often will not have a garden article. I have several clients with acreage, gardens, livestock, timber rattlers, & guns. Have sent them pics/etc.

Way off topic, have sent Traditional Home emails for several months about window views in their interior articles. Aside from raising an eyebrow about why anyone would live that way why would a magazine editor/photographer accept such pictures? Noticed, about 3 months ago, they now white out offensive views or use better camera angles to get rid of bad views. Never received a reply from them but want to say, brava Traditional Home, go team.

Didn't realize how deeply House & Garden magazine, ca. 1980's, trained my eye. And, the early Smith/Hawken catalogues. Miss those days. Hope your Milieu lives up to their standard.

How far are you from Clear Lake/Nassau Bay? Visit mom often and must see your sweet garden.

Just added a potted plant specialist to my team. Life is good.

Garden & Be Well, XO Tara

  5. YOWZERS!

    Love love love this magazine!

If you can believe it: the house the flower truck is in front of in Pasadena is the "Italian Villa" I lived in with my mother and step-father!

It was a complete "wreck" (my bathroom had fish painted on the walls with bubbles coming out of their mouths!) I was at "dreaded boarding school" back East; I came home at Christmas to the most beautiful house EVER!!
She had done a "makeover" of the most astonishing brilliance! And there it is!!! My mother and stepfather sold it in 1978 to a friend, and she sold it to the people who still live there! (I think!) There was the most spectacular mirror in the two-story central room from the couturier Sybil Connolly's house in Dublin! It is still there! (It weighed a ton; and required 6 men to hang it!!)
How fun to see it in such a beautiful magazine!!!

  6. oh ps they bought it in 1963 when I was a freshman in high school! I learned an enormous amount seeing what my mother did with this house. More than I can even express! It was copied from a villa outside Florence; and built in the early 1930's or late 20's in Pasadena! The central room in Italy was a courtyard; in Pasadena, it had a "greenhouse roof" Spectacular!!!

  7. Contemporary Home Furniture for Your lovable Home

Furniture is among the most fundamental objects in all homes. An individual takes great interest in planning as well as designing all parts of their home for it to truly reflect their standard of living.
With time the furniture design has also changed. However, it’s always prudent to pick the latest or contemporary one instead of opting for an old-fashioned one. There’re such a lot of varieties accessible in contemporary furniture, whether it’s the living room furniture, Bedroom furniture or the dinning room furniture, that one is able to easily smarten up their house.

Your Living room is among the vital parts of your home where families as well as guests spend a lot of time together and thus archaic furniture in the living room possibly will make you self-conscious while welcoming your guests and relatives. Decorating your living room by means of leather sofa together with superb sprawl chairs will certainly make your room among the most stunning and charming places.

  8. Love the Milieu Mag. Indigo, grays, blue & white were my first love in decorating many moons ago; then gravitated towards monochramatic, loving the french decor and romantic rustic look with painted and bleached furniture and antiques. Milieu finds the beauty and tasteful elegance in all styles created by the very talented artful decorators. Great post - and I did recognize the house with the Carol Piper rug - The editor-in chief herself - Pam Pierce's beautiful home.

  13. I subscribed last fall with the first issue and have thoroughly enjoyed each season's publication. The photography is great, capturing the essence of each room. The interiors are from carefully selected homes that have a collected and thoughtful design, not rooms that have been "decorated" for the sake of show. It's always a pleasure to receive a new issue, brew a pot of tea and turn the pages for inspiration!

  14. I subscribed to it but I haven't received it either...I cant wait to get it!

  15. I finally subscribed but it wasn't easy. Milieu's subscription page is not what I call user-friendly.

I've always wanted Pamela Pierce to publish a book but I think this will be the next best thing.
