COTE DE TEXAS: PARIS: BEFORE AND AFTER!

PARIS: BEFORE AND AFTER!

Today I have a real treat – a Before & After in Paris by Huff-Harrington.   You may remember a few other Before & Afters I’ve showed by Huff Harrington, who is a Cote de Texas Sponsor.

Huff Harrington has a shop in Atlanta and an online store HERE.  They also host trips to Paris and Provence, where small groups stay in their country house and their Parisian apartments.

image

They have several new trips planned for France in 2016, including a “Buying Trip” to Paris on March 9th and September 28th.  There are also new Paris & Provence Trips planned.  If you are interested, go HERE for more information.

image

The trips to Provence include stays at Les Murets, the beautiful country estate restored by Huff-Harrington.

image

You probably remember I wrote about the extensive renovation of Les Murets HERE

image

Besides the Provence estate shown above, Huff-Harrington has also renovated beautiful apartments in Paris,  including the Cremant de Bourgogne, which has just been completed!

image

The newest renovated apartment, located in the exclusive 7th Arrondissement on the Left Bank, has a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower from it’s windows, shown above.  The studio apartment sleeps 2 and is located on the 6th floor of the building, which is equipped with an elevator.

image

Before:  the studio had two rooms: a living area and a kitchen.  During the renovation, the kitchen was moved to the living room and that empty space was then turned into the bedroom.

image

The building is located at the corner of Avenue Bosquet and Rue Bosquet.

image

Before:  The living room with wood floors and a ceiling with exposed wood beams.

image

Before: the living area with the Juliet balcony and its Eiffel Tower views.

image

BEFORE:  Across from the sofa is a fireplace.  The kitchen was moved to this area.

image

After!  Wow!!! So beautiful!!  An antique French daybed becomes the sofa.   In keeping with the new lighter trend, the beams were whitewashed as were the wood floors – now with a limed finish.  Above is a gorgeous antique crystal chandelier!  So pretty!!!!

image

Across from the sofa, the new kitchen was installed in two cabinets that flank the fireplace.  The apartment's amnenties include air conditioning, washer and dryer combo and fully remodeled kitchen and bathroom.

image

Across from the sofa, flanking the non-working fireplace is the kitchenette.  A mirror backsplash enlarges the space.  The kitchen includes all utensils, a dishwasher, Proline burner, microwave, refrigerator, and a Nespresso machine – though I doubt much cooking will be happening with all the cafes right outside the front door!

 image

Above the daybed are antique sconces and gilt framed prints.  Across, is a marble mantel and an antique gilt mirror above it.

image

Close up of the mirror.  Of course there are beautiful antiques here!  The owners, Huff-Harrington sponsor buying trips to Paris and Provence.

image

I love the fabric on the daybed’s French mattress.

image

The beautiful marble mantel – underneath the area is painted French blue, with a print placed there.

image

The view of the Eiffel Tower from the 6th floor studio apartment.

image

BEFORE:  Past the living room is the kitchen.  This was all cleared out and the pony-wall was removed and this area became the bedroom.  Another window is located in this area of the studio.

image

Before:  the kitchen.

image

The second window, with another Juliet balcony.

image

AFTER:  Looking from the living area into the bedroom, which can be closed off with portieres.

image

After:  To the left of the bed, behind mirror doors, is a new closet which was added to the former kitchen.

image

White bedding with brown accents on the queen sized bed furthers the color scheme found in the living area.  Above is a second antique crystal chandelier.

image

The antique mirror with its glass in three sections (I love that!) reflects both chandeliers!!!  So beautiful!!!   In the closet doors, you can see the row of glass shelves that were built into the wall behind the bed.

image

A view of the balcony, next to the bed.

image

“Paris is always a good idea”  Audrey Hepburn.

image

The view from the bedroom to the living room.

image

BEFORE:  The bathroom.

AFTER:

image

AFTER:  The tile on the walls and floor was removed.  New sink and faucets.  New everything makes the small area look so much nicer.  It also looks like the water tank was moved?  That thing is scary!

At night the Eiffel Tower lights up on every hour.

Want to stay here?  It’s available to rent through Paris Perfect HERE.

The other apartment listed at ParisPerfect that Huff-Harrington restored is this one, Beaumes de Venise.  This unit is a two bedroom which sleeps six.  I noticed that ParisPerfect  has new pictures of the apartment.   Above, is the living room in cream and gold.

image

Beautiful herringbone wood floors, mixed with a crystal chandelier, sconces, and an antique mirror.

image

The living room turns into a third bedroom.

image

The kitchen was moved into the dining room with cabinets that flank the fireplace.

image

The Juliet balconies overlook the streets of the 7th Arrondissement.

image

The hallway leads to the two bedrooms.  I love how the color scheme of cream and gold flows throughout.

image

The bedrooms are filled with antique gilt French mirrors, crystal chandeliers, white bedding and silk curtains.

image

Notice the beautiful paneled doors with gilt hardware and the iron balconies.  Gorgeous!

image

The second bedroom with French checks and an antique crystal chandelier!

image

The bathroom with a vanity and subway tiled bath/shower.

  1. that is very pretty, but I think the bathroom with the tile on the wall is more european. it's is not so convenient to do your makeup without a counter but typically they have one tile all over, walls included, and mop the whole thing in one fell swoop. and this apartment has air-conditioning. Nice.

  8. We learned about Huff Harrington from your previous post. We tried to book both the house in Provence and the apartment in Paris during our trip, unfortunately, they were booked. But these women are SOOOOOOO nice, they gave me recommendations for other accommodations through Paris Perfect and even a restaurant. I've just purchased a new home (Houston area) and I can't wait to shop for art with them. All of my friends in Atlanta love them too. We loved our month there and I hope to take my girlfriends on one of their combo trips!

  10. This is just fascinating. The "before" apartment looks like so many places I've seen in France. Kind of cute, but a little banal. The "after" is just amazing. In the two apartments, the owners were lucky to be able to change the location of the kitchens. That isn't always possible. In our place in Carcassonne, the options for plumbing were strictly limited by the historic preservation authorities.
I wonder where they relocated the water heater in that bathroom! I didn't mind the before tile--it looked like a kind of marble subway tile, but maybe it wasn't at all like that IRL.
