  1. These are all great ideas, but I think the champagne truffles are calling my name. Happy Valentines Day!

    1. Get out of the house, start doing activities that you enjoy, and someone will come along.

    2. Sweetie! Maybe join one of those online dating apps????? Maybe volunteer and be a buddy for a needing child? Not all love has to be from a partner. This breaks my heart. Maybe try to get closer to your family? Try to keep busy, getting out - you never know when you might meet someone - a friend, a lover, a companion.

    3. I'm doing activities that I enjoy. I've joined a club. I volunteer on weekends. I work full time. And I take care of my elderly mother who has dementia. If I get any busier, I'll have to quit my job. My sister, mother and I are extremely close.

I've been on online dating sites for 4 1/2 years and the only men who contact me are online dating scammers. Most of the men I send messages to either don't bother to reply or say things like "You're not attractive enough to be on a dating site." or "You're too fat to be on a dating site." or "Why don't you wear more makeup and sexier clothes."

Unfortunately, I live in a city where the women outnumber the men 7 to 1, so the men here (regardless of how unattractive THEY are) are all looking for very attractive women. If you don't look gorgeous, you're not going to get a date. And there's no point suggesting that I move to another city as I have to take care of my elderly mother here.

When I said that all I wanted for Valentine's Day was someone to love me, I meant a man. I have friends. Just once before I die, though, I'd like to see what it feels like to have someone in love with me.

    4. Well, it does sound as if you are doing as much as you can. One suggestion - church? Does your church have a singles group? You've probably already done that, but maybe don't give up? My best friend was the prettiest, most attractive girl growing up - and now at 62 she is single, never married. So I know what it's like. She wishes she had married more than anything. She never thought she would be alone. Now, she is overweight and doesn't think she's attractive enough for dating. I always try to encourage her to go to a temple group for older singles. But she refuses. You are at least willing to try. There has to be some kind of group - wine tasting? movie going? bowling? a book club? some kind of group for singles. I wouldn't give up. You seem to have a lot going for you and someone is out there. Keep trying.

    5. There is no city in the U.S. where women outnumber men 7 to 1. Someone is pulling your leg. Do you live in the Middle East or some other war-torn area?
A book group probably won't get it. Most of the ones I've seen are same sex. (Mostly women. Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Your mother, sister, and you are extremely close and you care for your mother who has dementia. Boy, does this sound familiar! Is your sister dividing this task equally with you? My sister-in-law, who is/was extremely close to her parents, and who helped care for her mother (who has now passed away from dementia) is in her fifties and spends way too much time with her dad to find a relationship or keep one. When you are making and bringing a casserole to your dad every day, and spending hours with him pretty much every day, and working a job where you are mostly at home on phone or computer, well, she's not going to meet anyone. And yet we are all supposed to feel sorry for her because her marriage many years ago didn't work out, so she didn't have any babies. Geez. We have to hear this time and time again from her dad. If he told her to stop coming over every day, and start going out a bit, she might meet someone. Meeting someone at this age takes a bit of strategy, even though that someone may come along unexpectedly. Don't go out looking like a schlub. Smile, and flirt a bit. Yeah, it sounds old fashioned. Get off my case; it works.
There are men who will go for an overweight woman, but exercising for your own health isn't a bad thing and you could meet someone doing that who is also on the road to health. When you do activities, do things that men are also doing.
Shake things up; you say you're not meeting anyone now, so you need to do things differently.

    8. To address the previous comments and suggestions:

I don't live in the US. I live in Canada. There are several cities here where the women outnumber the men. Finally, late last year, my sister and I managed to get our mother into a subsidized dementia care facility. I don't know how easy it is to do so in the US, but here it took nearly 3 1/2 years to get her into care. Now that I don't have to do everything for her, I have some time to care for myself. I've lost some weight, but have a ways to go. I walk everywhere and swim, but am limited in what I can do because I have arthritis and walk with a cane. I've never gone out in public looking "like a schlub". I'm always well-groomed, made up and coiffed. I wear attractive clothes that flatter my figure and skin tone. I love hockey, football and baseball, so I attend the games of our local hockey and baseball teams. I belong to one of our local Rotary Club chapters. I'm good-natured, friendly, kind, generous and make people laugh with my witty, irreverent comments.

For 26 of the last 30 years, I wasn't looking for a man. I was pursuing my education, establishing my career, helping friends who owned stores and just generally living my life. And I didn't meet anyone then, either. Well, actually, I did. I met a man whose teenaged daughter didn't want him to date, so he left me. And I met another man who just wanted a friends with benefits type of relationship. That was in 1997.

Many of the men whose profiles I read on the dating sites are looking for an activity partner (my arthritis limits my ability to take part in a lot of activities), someone who is retired (at 63, I'm not retired and won't be until I'm about 70) and someone who can travel. So I'm not exactly the target audience for much of the dating male population.

    9. It sounds like you are doing many of the right things, but it's still not working out for you.
Having a cane at your young age may be hampering things, but you probably can't do anything about that unless you need a new hip or knee. My friend who really needs a new hip put it off for 10 years because she didn't want to do the surgery, and now it has deteriorated so badly that she needs a cane and can only walk like 15 feet. Now she has checked into the surgery, and it is going to be way more complicated and dangerous.
If surgery isn't the answer, then maybe you should be with someone who is also at your level of disability so you can do things together at the same pace.

    10. I'm on the waiting list for a knee. It shouldn't be more than another year and a half. I'm looking forward to getting it done, so I'd never put it off.

I should definitely be with someone who is also at my level of disability. Now I just need to meet that person ... which is the problem. LOL!

      Delete
    11. Don't get a disabled person then, because after you get your new knee, you will be outdoing him!
A year and a half for a knee (or longer..when did you get on that list?)
That government healthcare isn't that swift, huh? People in western Canada who can pay their own way, come down to Seattle all the time for their medical needs. That must mean something.

    12. joint replacements are so much easier today. my friend has Jewish Arthritis and she has already had two hip replacemnts with no problems at all. It's all very different today.

      Delete
    13. Joint replacements are easier if you do them in a timely manner. My friend who has waited too many years now, is facing a much more complicated surgery.
      Jewish people have different arthritis?

      Delete
    14. I have an acquaintance who went to Seattle for a hip replacement. He was very happy with the surgery and the care he got there. Unfortunately I can't afford to pay for the surgery. I've only been on the list for a little over 8 months. While I'm waiting, I get artificial synovial fluid injections in my knees every few months. They help a lot.

    15. Dear Squeak, I'm reading these comments and I have to say how impressed I am by your poise and your willingness to listen to others' opinions and advice. You clearly have a lot going for you: you seem kind, open, self-aware, interested and interesting, not to mention your sacrifices for and loyalty to your family. You sound like a real catch and I wish you the best.

      Delete
    16. Yes, Jewish people are prone to this arthritis that runs in families, is inherited. Obviously it's a faulty gene. It's Rheumatoid arthritis and it's autoimmune. It strikes when you are younger, not older necessarily. Doesn't have to do with old age or activity.

      Delete
    17. Squeak. What about a cruise to Alaska. Not a cruise to a sunny climate. Or a cruise to Scandinavia. IOW a cruise that might attract older people, not young singles. I know this sounds stupid, but I personally know a couple who met on a cruise. Maybe a cruise of the Eastern seaboard. Those types of cruises.

    18. I think it is impressive how a simple sentence "All I want for Valentine's Day is someone to love me," turned this blog into an advice column temporarily. We are a bunch of caring people. The problem is that in a medium like this would not be appropriate to ask anyone "What have you already done to correct the situation?" for it would invite the person to perhaps reveal more than they want. But that question would pre-emptied suggestions made that Squeak had already done, tried, or addressed a particular situation -- as indeed it happened here. As I said before, Squeak sounds as a strong person and the support voiced by many is not a bad thing either. I second K. Miller, you sound like a real catch and we wish you all the best. Leticia

    19. That's a great thought, Joni. But (1) I can't leave my mom and (2) I can't afford a cruise.

      K. Miller, thank you so much for your very, very kind comments!

    20. Squeak - I feel you sister. And all the advice is kindly meant, though it never seems to work out for some of us. No idea why... But good luck with the knee and sorry there is any kind of wait for you.

    21. Thank you, Letty and Linda, and all the other wonderful people who made suggestions. Joni, your readers are incredibly kind.

Linda, I suspect that the cliché "There's someone for everyone." simply isn't true.

    22. Squeak,
Stop it now. There IS someone out there. You need to shake things up. You'll probably feel more like putting yourself out there after you get your hip fixed.
Joni, well, good for your friends who met on a cruise. Usually when single women go on a cruise, the only men they "meet" are crew members, unless it's a cruise specifically set up for singles. And way more women do these things than men.

    23. K. Miller, that's exactly what I was thinking!! Oh my goodness, Squeak, I wish and pray for you all the love you deserve. Any man would be lucky to have you!

  5. Genuine Love Spell To Get Ex Back, And Stop Divorce. I just found out about my husband cheating on me with a co-worker! We’ve been married going on two years. 2kids. lots of amazing momments together. i want to leave, but i love him so much. all i can think about is how nothing stopped him. how he has to see her everyday because they work together. we are both still young and very attractive. but i want my husband, my friend, and the father of my beautiful children. how do i get past the thought of another woman having my husband? Not my fiancé, not my boyfriend, but my husband! i still love him even though he thinks i want to leave i really want him to do better and stop me before i walk out! my husband told me that he doesn’t feel loved anymore, just because of this co-worker he has be cheating on with me that he wants a divorce, i was devastated, heart broken i begged him to listen to me that we can work it out like we always do, but he didn’t listen, he told me that he met someone that loves and understands him, i begged him to consider our kids but he’s did listen. he left and i was frustrated, i began searching for help and answers, then i heard about a man that can Cast a spell to remind him of all the things we have been through together, at first I was scared then i decided to give it a try, and like magic my husband came back, apology and begging for forgiveness, thanks to this man, I’m posting this to help people with similar issues.
