Cote de Texas at the Decorative Center Tuesday

Yes, you heard that correctly.   This Tuesday,  I will be part of a panel discussion on the Evolution of Design presented by The Editor At Large in conjunction with the Decorative Center of Houston’s Spring Market 2010.  Whew, that’s a mouthful.    Also on the panel will be Ronda Carman of All The Best blog, Jillian St. Charles of HGTV fame, and Brad Ford, interior designer extraordinaire who also writes the blog Design Therapy.

The event will be held at the Decorative Center on Woodway on Tuesday April 27, at 3:00 p.m.   Veranda magazine is also hosting an event that morning at 10:30 am.   Both events are open to the public.

So…….if you would like to come here me discuss the Evolution of Design and how it ties in with the internet and blogging, please come!   The event will take place in the ground floor Gallery.    I’m looking forward to meeting you!

p.s. If you don’t know what I look like,  I’ll be the girl on the panel with the I.V. drip of Valium hanging from my veins!!!!   Yes, to say I am just a tad bit nervous about this is a huge understatement.  It sounded like a great idea six months ago.  YIKES!!

  17. Ok hunny... First off, If you DO happen to have an IV drip of valium...can we at LEAST get that part on a you-tube video...hmmm....purty please?

Secondly...take a deep breath. This IS what you do best...just pretend everyone is invisible...like we all kinda are. And naked...which we most kinda are, too.

    ;~)

    Excitin'!

  18. Joni,

Love, your blog, love SRT, you excel in both, so there will be absolutely no doubt in my mind that you will be absolutely fabulous with this "little" project, I'll be thinking of you and can't wait to read all about it here!

  19. Make sure you discuss all those regional designs that have come to define your style or perhaps the Houston style. Don't disappoint anyone by not touting slips, seagrass (or was that ragweed), the art of downloading other peoples photos and work and then opining as though you actually are the designer extraordinaire, and by all means try to use the word "perfection" as many times as possible so people actually believe you know what you talking about. Last but not least, have your dog sitting on your lap and if he is not available, ask Mr. Slipper Socks.

  22. Thanks EVERYONE (except for the slipcover hating anon - she's unreal isn't she?)

I wish you were all going to be there. My parents are going and so is my sister. Ben can't be there because Lizzy leaves with her graduating class tomorrow for a month in Israel and POland! :(

As for anon - when have I ever downloaded other people's work and acted as if it was my own? care to let me know????? you are such a jerk.

  23. Joni,
This is so exciting! Congratulations! This may sound strange, but you might think about getting your doctor to prescribe a beta blocker like atenolol, (all you need is a half a tablet) and it will help keep your heart from racing, and then you won't feel so nervous. It's great to take as needed for these types of situations! Serious - just a thought. Most of all, just be yourself, because that is what everyone (with a few exceptions that aren't worth mentioning) loves. You will be fabulous! Wish I could be there!

She delivered smart, witty and informative answers and I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed having this true Texan represented on the panel. I know I did! Joni...you kicked ass! My Best, Brad Ford

  51. Joni I am surprised that you were nervous. I was there & it was such a joy to listen to you and to the whole panel. You have a marvelous sense of humor and really summed up blogging perfectly. I wanted to meet you at the reception but got caught up in conversation with two wonderful designers & before you know it practically everyone was gone. A huge disappointment for me. Anyway for my two cents you were great!
