I’ve been way behind on posting our new Skirted Roundtable discussions. So, if you follow along with the updates from my blog, to get all caught up, the next one is Mr. Jamie Drake aka “The King of Color.”
I think you can just look at this picture and understand his love of color! Or else he is a huge University of Texas alumni!
Many of his interiors are filled with pinks and oranges and lilacs.
Wow! Amazing!
Not all his interiors are wildly colorful – this dining room is actually sedate. Love the wallpaper – it’s gorgeous!!!
This interview is unique because it’s the first one we’ve ever done LIVE! Drake was interviewed in person at High Point during market a few weeks ago. Linda and Megan did the interview as I did not make it to Highpoint.
Oh well, maybe I’ll go next year – that is, if I magically wake up a few years younger and many pounds lighter!!!

YOU’VE COME A LONG WAY!!!
Talking about Sunbrella fabrics – they really have come a LONG way! They used to be so limiting, available in just solids and cabana stripes. Today, they are available in an array of colors and patterns! These new fabrics work as easily indoors as they do outdoors and many designers are exclusively using Sunbrella indoors because of its long wearing and hard working potential.
Fellow Houstonians, make note of the following event coming up at the Robert Allen/Beacon Hill Showroom. It’s all about their new Sunbrella fabrics. If you have any questions about this event, be sure to contact the showroom at 713-439-0200.
Aren’t these fabrics beautiful? Hard to believe they are Sunbrella!!!
A Few Notes
Antique Giveaway on Cote de Texas!
I’m so excited to be having another giveaway! Yes!!! Last night, we named the winner in the Spartina 449 giveaway – Cassandra – she won a bucket bag! Congratulations Cassandra.
Today, our sponsor Bonny Neiman Stylish Antiques has donated an antique from her collection HERE. Have any of you ever web shopped at Bonny’s? I’ve been a customer of Bonny’s for a few years and tonight I went around the house looking for things I have bought from her to show you. The thing I like best about Bonny’s antiques are the prices. They are amazing. Everything is very, very reasonable. Whenever Bonny gets a new shipment, she sends out an email and l always click onto her website to see if there is something I just can’t resist.
Remember this living room I recently redid for a client? Next to the sofa on the right side is a French writing table. I bought that from Bonny. Now, at that time, the finish was lighter and I wanted it really dark, so before she shipped it out to me, she restained the desk to a deep, rich brown. I wish I had a close up picture of it to show you, but when the table arrived, I was thrilled. The finish was perfect, its lines were graceful, the legs were curvy and thin – it was perfect. I wanted to keep it for myself!
I’m addicted to the antique and vintage marble grapes. I’ve bought them from Bonny for myself and clients. These were actually going to clients but ended up staying in my house instead.
Another addiction of mine is vintage and antique globes. I bought this beauty from Bonny. It was too pretty to put with all my other globes, so I keep it on this table where it stands out. I know, sick, sick!!!
Below, I picked out a few of my favorites for sale at Bonny Neiman’s right now:
Napoleon 3rd Slipper Chairs
These would look so great flanking a sofa or a fireplace.
French Oak Gateleg Table
I have three of these tables, myself. I buy gatelegs for clients because when they are open – you get such a large expanse to style upon.
Vintage Italian cut Marble Lamps
I love these kind of lamps!
19th Century Swedish Mora Clock
original paintThis is unusual that it would have the original paint. So many on the market today are repainted. This particular clock is really pretty too, LOVE it!
Antique Swedish Secretary
I really want this!!!! hahaha! Oh, this is dangerous to look at all these antiques. HELP!!!
Vintage Shell from Belgium
OK, I can probably afford this! You can’t have enough shells – IMHO.
I told you this story before, but in case you missed it: Bonny sends out emails about her different antiquing adventures. A few months ago, I wrote a story about a house for sale that was designed by Pamela Pierce. Bonny took all the pictures from that story and picked out antiques she had for sale that would replicate the look of Pierce’s various rooms. For this breakfast room, Bonny chose her own set of leather chairs, pictured below:
These chairs really are a great match to those that Pam used.
Leather chairs set of 6. To read the story, go HERE.
THE GIVEAWAY:
Bonny has generously donated this antique marble compote for the giveaway!
To enter the contest, all you have to do is go to Bonny Neiman Stylish Antique’s web site HERE and find one antique that you would like to buy, if money was NO object! How fun is that??
After you pick out your dream antique, come back to the blog and leave a comment telling me which antique you picked! That’s it!!!
The contest will remain open until Saturday night at 11:59 pm. I’ll pick a winner then.
A huge thank you to Bonny for the giveaway!!!
