Joni- I am SO EXCITED! Thank you so much for hosting another fabulous giveaway! I'll be posting about it shortly.
ReplyDeleteJust finished listening to the Bunny Wiliams commentary. When I pulled the August issue of HB out of the mail box....my first thought was "what the heck.....happened to this room. I think the commentary the three of you voiced regarding this room was excellent; Bunny Williams is a great designer,but...... here it seems as if her ego came before her innate good taste. This rooms seems as if it had been pulled together in the 1920's, not 2009. It is confusingly crammed full of "stuff" without adherence to balance and scale and sometimes quality. In a way, it seems as if Bunny threw in a touch of Jonathan Adler or "Domino" just to prove that she could. Thanks for the opportunity to offer up my two cents worth.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for talking about the Bunny William's room for Kips Bay....it's driven me crazy! There are many wonderful things in this room, but it just does not work! I dislike the horns and that awful fabric on the back of the white painted chairs and the red chair looks strange to my eye. Much too busy and I never thought Albert Hadley was "busy"...more edited than this....oh well...thank you so much for all your thoughts to add to mine.

I try not to say bad things ... but if future issues of House Beautiful are not any better than this I will not renew my subscription. I felt like I was reading the equivalent of "The Emperor Has New Cloths".
ReplyDeleteI should be working, but listening to you all is way more fun! {I can work at the same time, though}
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a happy day, Joni.
xoxo Lidy
Well I disagree. I loved it! I thought the colors were fresh and adding the red chair was genious. I am an artist and the artwork in this room is swoon worthy!!
ReplyDeleteI also loved Joe Nye's rooms. This issue was fantastic!
Glad you did this post, (I also listended to the S.R.T.)..My first thought when I saw the cover was "UGH"! I even showed it to my man and he said the same...I usually LOVE Bunnys interiors...but I just didnt quite "get" this one. I thought maybe I should bone up on my decorating or something...you know...it was after all Bunny Williams. Glad to see I was not alone in my thinking...whew!
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to this. I love this issue.
ReplyDeleteAmen, sisters.
