The Sayles Ranch Guest Houses:  Cotton Eye Joe

Last July I told you about the Sayles Ranch Guest Houses in Abilene, Texas  HERE.   The owner, Terry Browder, had recently remodeled one of the houses called the Cotton Eye Joe.   The redo was remarkable for all the wonderful ideas Browder used throughout, especially his treatments on the walls and floors.

Mr. Browder is now graciously offering a giveaway contest to Cote de Texas readers.   One lucky reader will win a 2 night weekend at the Cotton Eye Joe, redeemable within the next 12 months (subject to availability.)   The Cotton Eye Joe rents for $395 per night, so the value of the contest is $790.00.  And remember, there are three bedrooms, so there is a lot of room for a group of people.

image A flat screen TV is hiding behind the map above the mantel at the Cotton Eye Joe.

Browder states that while many think Abilene is at the end of the earth, it is really centrally located:   “3 hours from Dallas, 4 from Austin and San Antonio, and 5 from Houston.  It's a delightful place for the winner to bring their family, or friends.  We have a lot of women do "Girlfriend Getaway"weekends, where friends from college, or sisters, etc meet for a fun weekend of non serious antique shopping, fabulous food and such.”

And, in more exciting news from Abilene: a  new Sayles guest house is almost finished being renovated.   It’s a loft space that was once a 1957 ballet studio.   The color scheme is gray, French blue and turquoise and it features a stained concrete floors in a striped pattern just like a dhurri rug.  Hopefully, we’ll have pictures of the new space soon.

So, how to win?   Simply go to  www.saylesranch.com and look over ALL their available guest houses  - then come back here to leave a comment telling us which guesthouse you like the best.  That’s it.     I’ll name the winner this weekend!

A huge thank you to Terry Browder for this fun giveaway.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

    Two Favorites:

The Cotton Eye Joe cabin is so chic...country elegance. I love the color palatte and the cabin's light and airy feeling...and the monogrammed dining seating!

The Falling Star cabin is also a favorite. As a little girl growing up in West Texas, I was drawn to the mysterious world of Native Americans and Indian Chiefs.

All of the cabins are warm and inviting. What an awesome giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Cabin Fever but they all are so beautiful! What a great giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Cotton Eye Joe is my fave! I love Cabin Fever too! The mix of old and new is so well executed. The bins of boots and hats at Sayles Ranch are such a festive touch!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Cotton Eye Joe is beautiful! Rustic and airy! That's a hard combo to achieve.

    ReplyDelete
  58. The Cotton Eye Joe is beautiful and another favorite because I know my seven-year-old would love the loft, is Cabin Fever.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Cotton Eye Joe is delightful, and I've oft thought about the side table in the living room and the dining room upholstery since your last post. What a wonderful opportunity!

All of the Sayles Ranch Guesthouses are lovely and have their own charm.

The Sayles Ranch was my original pick, especially as let's face it -they are ALL fabulous, and the Sayles Ranch has limestone walls, (swoon), so much visual interest (Dying to see that room with the twin bed up close) and comes equipped with a pool! If only those great boots were available too? Let's face it - any place describes as John Wayne at Starbucks begs for further exploration!

Truly, I'd so enjoy touring all of these, if only to experience all the gorgeous light fixtures up close.
    I. Am. Obsessed.

I love how Cabin Fever is tucked away in the alley and has that fabulous kitchen, tin work, loft and light coming in from what seems to be everywhere! That Joan Crawford's Husband was an original contractor?

I cant stop thinking about the Falling Star Lodge's kitchen cabinetry - can you?

The Hideout bed is just darling, and I'm dying to see the antique convent doors to the private courtyard. Divine!

    Sigh...

    Fingers Crossed!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I love the Falling Star Lodge because that jar painting in the second photo is amazing and I want to see it in person! But I would have to go with the Sayles Ranch to hold all of the inlaws that live in Brownwood!

    ReplyDelete

  151. Well, The sales ranch is just gorgeous. I hope you are battening down the hatches and keeping things well. We have had a series of showers here the last two days. I always think of you in hurricane season,
    Hope all is well Joni!

  153. Falling Star is like a Ralph Lauren ad come to life. The warmth of the wood on the walls, the farmhouse table with gramma's oak chairs, the antlers, the worn leather, what's not to love?

  154. The Sayles Ranch would be a perfect get-away for our family...there are 10 of us now with all our "new" sons!

  155. cotton eye joe looks pretty perfect to me, but if i had to choose another it would definitely be sayles ranch.

  158. Here's my impressions-- I loved the overall look of Cabin Fever-- especially the kitchen, loft & tin wall treatment. I love the size of Sayles for a good-sized group of close friends & especially the idea of a private swimming pool to protect the general public from the shock of middle-aged thighs. The Falling Star Lodge's screened porch looks like a great place to practice the lost art of conversation, and what is that interesting chest of little drawers? Overall, I love the quilts, the unique bathroom treatments and eclectic mix of furniture and styles throughout the guest houses. Did I mention middle-aged thighs back there? I really meant to say beautiful, buff members of the Sisterhood of the Comfy Socks. [aka a small, unofficially disorganized group of good friends]

  170. I have been blessed to be inside each of Terry's guesthouses. (to photograph, not stay) To choose just one would be near impossible. Terry's gift for bringing the rustic and the elegant together to create amazingly enveloping spaces simply awes me! If I had to chose, I suppose City Slickers and Cotton Eye Joe "enchanted" me the most. I would LOVE to "get away" to one of Terry's "wonderlands!" Thanks, Jodi, for sharing his talent with your readers. Blessings!

My dad is turning 75 this coming spring and since both of my sisters live in Texas (San Antonio and Austin) the family has picked Texas as the location of a surprise birthday party for Dad and the whole clan. 192. How on earth do you decide? They are ALL fabulous!! I really like the pics you displayed of the Cotton Eye Joe, but I didn't see that as a choice on saylesranch website. Therefore...drum roll, please...I chose Cabin Fever! Seriously, that's not a first pick, as ALL are stellar, both in design and amenities. Hope I'm chosen! I would love to spend a couple of nights in Abilene!!
