Everyone who reads my blog knows that one of my favorite companies I use when designing is Segreto Finishes. I have long been convinced that the owner of Segreto, Leslie Sinclair, is actually the Wizard of Oz behind the most beautiful houses in Houston – and more.
Segreto has the talent and ability to create incredible finishes that can truly transform the most boring room into something spectacular. Once you have experienced a Segreto creation, you never want do a design without them - ever!
Leslie has written two very popular books, large volumes that showcase her work: “Segreto” and “Segreto Style.” And so today, I am thrilled to announce a third book from Leslie entitled “Segreto Vignettes”
I was even more excited that Leslie asked me to write the Forward. Even better, she was so kind to include some photographs of jobs we have worked on together…AND…I was even asked to write the section on Slipcovers!!
OK, confession. This is the first book my work is included in – and it’s a thrill, I can’t deny that I’m over the moon with excitement. And I am most eternally grateful and thankful to Leslie for this kindness, whom I consider one of the nicest, sweetest people in this business.
I’m not the only contributor to “Segreto Vignettes.” There is an entire section on “Tips From the Experts” – such as Maria Killam, the Colour Expert, who wrote “Choosing the Perfect White” and there are sections on “Choosing the Perfect Architect” and builder, and designer.
There is also an extensive chapter on all the different finishes that are available, along with another chapter on how to use finishes to fix a problem – such as disguising TVs, altering light fixtures, finishing fireplaces – and more.
Besides all the fun things to read, there are the photographs – page after page of the most beautiful interiors you will ever see, designed by cream of the crop decorators – all made that much better because Leslie Sinclair and Segreto was involved.
At 336 pages, the book is heavy and worth every pound as an invaluable reference tool. “Segreto Vignettes” will be available the first week in September – but we are offering it for pre-order now.
To pre-order “Segreto Vignettes,” please go HERE.
Happy Reading!!!

These photos are tantalizing. I love the Segreto blog, too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the book chapter! I am sure it's as well-researched as the posts you do here. Next: your own book?
Good for you. I appreciate the many hours of diligent research to produce this wonderful blog. If the book is half as good as this beautiful post it will great!
ReplyDeleteJoni, congratulations! Your work is always stunning and inspiring, you know how to combine elegant, French style with comfort and the personality of your clients. The book looks amazing. Xo
ReplyDeleteDear Joni, What a lovely room for the cover of the book! It is impressive how much design and function you packed into that little TV / sitting room. Seems to be a very "normal" size - maybe 12' x 15" ? Love that you used a Tea Table rather than a coffee table in front of the couch - IMO so much more gracious to NOT have to lean over to retrieve something from the table.
ReplyDeleteIf we lived in the Houston area, would definitely consider using Leslie.

Congrats Joni! You should do your own book maybe on do's/don'ts or before/afters?! Love the den pictured and how you worked around the TV. As someone commented above, need all the disguise-the-TV tricks-in-a-vignette as I can get! I live in Houston and have seen Leslie's work in many homes. Stunning and I'm sure the book will be as well.

Yes, I agree! Would love to see you do a book! Your explanations of why certain things work and do not work in design are SO helpful and would make a great book!!!!
DeleteCongratulations Joni, this is a long time coming and so well deserved. I have always said your blog post are as good as any design book I have ever read! I hope we see more books in your future!

I called Leslie/Segreto Finishes today to have them come and do plaster in my entry and a powder room...and THEN I saw your blog post and got even more excited about having the work done. Congratulations on your photo credits and your chapter on slipcovers. I think YOU have a book in you for sure. My all-time favorite series you have done was your top 10 favorites (white linen, seagrass, draperies, ....). I really like your before and afters blog stories too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Joni and congratulations on having your room included! It's classic and stunning!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Joni on having some of your work featured in Segreto Vignettes! Love both yours and Leslie Sinclair's work. What a fabulous room you created! Maybe your own book will be next?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! Can't wait to browse this book ...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I'm making a place for it on the coffee table right next to "One Man's Folly". And yes please your own book!

You know, I was thoroughly disgusted with the July/August issue of House Beautiful magazine, so much do that I shot off an angry email about how sophomoric and inexperienced one of there interior feature stories seemed to me. It irks me because there is so much real talent out there! And Leslie is a perfect example of it. I don't know if she's ever been featured in House Beautiful, but her work definitely should. And if it has been featured, well I'd be glad to see a whole lot more of it in there.
ReplyDeleteBunny Williams recently quipped that a lot of (interior design) work today shows a lack of experience. Well, Leslie's and Joni's work certainly don't! The pictures from the book look stunning! Congratulations to both of you. The book looks like the best Segreto book yet.
I have learned so much from reading your blog and Leslie's books. I love that your work and Leslie's is connected. Leslie is finishing projects for my daughter and she has been very pleased. Can't wait to see my daughter's projects and the new book. Congratulations to you both.
ReplyDelete...where did the beautiful ireland post go?...blessings...laney
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Leslie on another amazing book filled with her artful works and to your participation as well, Joni!

I do agree with all the ideas you have presented in your post. They’re really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very short for newbies. Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post..

Congratulations!! That's so exciting! My copy is in the mail as we speak direct from Leslie, I can't wait to read your section on slipcovers and the rest of it - her work is incredible.
ReplyDeleteJoni,
ReplyDeleteSegreto's finishes are truly a work of art! Love their work and I have you to thank for introducing me to them!

I got my book in the mail yesterday and I absolutely love it. The book and images are gorgeous and on the thickest and highest quality paper as well. I especially enjoyed admiring the chinoiserie murals and the before/ photos and seeing and reading about their approach to decorating issues and problems. They often take a pretty space to the next level, rather than transform an ugly or dated space. Still sometimes it is harder to take improve something pretty without gilding the lily and ruining it. I recommend the book to anyone who enjoys decorating books. Some might think that the internet offers images just as spectacular, but the details often get lost in online images - is that a button or embroidery? These gorgeous images are crisp, sharp focused so you can pour over every single detail.
ReplyDeleteJoni,
ReplyDeleteI'm a newcomer to your Pinterest board. I see that you are a designer and would love to have a resource for the little French wooden coffee table in your living room picture. The picture has two built in bookcases surrounding a window, and if I am reading this correctly has just been included in a new book! Congratulations!
