THE SALAD PLATE IS ESPECIALLY DARLING AND I LOVE THE MUG. THE DINNER PLATE IS SO HEAVY.
AND IT’S ALL SOOOOOO CHEAP!!!!
IT’S A GOOD FAKE JULISKA OR SO I TELL MYSELF.
WELL, AMAZON IS NOW OUT OF THEM, BUT THEY ARE HERE ON EBAY. HERE AND HERE
I’M TAKING THE PLUNGE WITH A ROBOT VACUUM CLEANER – OR A ROBOVAC. OUR DOGS ARE HAIRY THINGS AND AFTER I SAW “ELEVEN GABLES” HERE RAVING ABOUT HER ROOMBA, I STARTED STUDYING THEM.
MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE NOISE. WHENEVER MY HOUSEKEEPER VACUUMS, I WANT TO ESCAPE FROM THE NOISE. THIS ROBOVAC THAT I CHOSE IS RATED THE QUIETEST ON THE MARKET WITH A STRONG SUCTION AND A LOW PROFILE SO IT CAN GO UNDER A LOT OF FURNITURE. PLUS IT’S PRICED VERY VERY GOOD. (CHEAP, NOT LUXE!!) IT WAS RATED VERY HIGH ON A FEW LISTS – ON ONE, IT WAS RATED HIGHEST. HERE

HAPPY SHOPPING TO ALL!!!!
It would be kinder to recommend only faux fur items. In this day and age, with faux furs looking completely real, there is no longer a reason to make animals suffer and die for a scarf or hat or coat. Several fashion houses have sworn off fur. I have a closet full of very chic faux fur items that are warm and beautiful, and I can wear them completely without guilt.
ReplyDeleteLots of other great ideas here. Have a happy holiday season, Joni.

ReplyDeleteSuch great gift ideas! My husband was sitting across from me when I was reading the list and he now has a huge Christmas list for me! I love your blog and read it the minute it pops into my email. Happy Holidays...Susi
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful list! Thanks for including my favorite roomba!! I have the gucci tote in large and LOVE it!!! I carry it every day!! Xx, Emily
ReplyDeleteGreat list of ideas, but here is a tale of caution about those robotic vacuums.
ReplyDeleteAbout 15 years ago when they first appeared, I thought it would be a great help to keep down the shed hair from my two King Charles Spaniels. I had just finished redecorating my home and had a gorgeous custom Stark carpet and border in my kitchen. I put the vacuum on late one evening and went to bed. The next morning, my lovely (and expensive) kitchen rug was ruined! Why you ask - because these robotic vacuums and loop construction rugs do not play nicely together!
Forewarned, if you have loop construction rugs and are considering one of these little robot vacuums.
Well. My parents recently bought a stark custom rug too. And I had to buy a special kind of vacuum cleaner for them to use. You can’t use a regular one. Only this special kind that doesn’t have I don’t remember !!! Maybe brushes. There were hardly any on the market as it was. Big hassle. Not surprised. I’m going to watch it on my Seagrass
DeleteI'll take Tory Burch's living room!
ReplyDeleteLol. Me too briars why I put it on. It’s one of my favorite houses.
DeleteWhat does "Me too briars why I put it on." mean?
DeleteI have NO idea!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. It's obviously an autocorrect. Let's see - me too, which is why I put it on. There! better?
DeleteLove all the things on your list. Especially the REAL FURS!
ReplyDeleteSomeone just said the opposite. Mad I put the real fur hat on the list.
DeleteSo apparently you're not a member of PETA then?
Delete@Mel: Re anon's comment; I guess or should I say apparently those who also wear wool or cashmere are not PETA members either? Also let us not forget those who prefer leather footwear to that made from rubber/plastic and petrochemicals. Enough said .... ☺.
DeleteWool and cashmere don't require killing animal so not the same at all.
Delete@Anon: No differently from Mel or myself, you are entitled to your opinion however IF a crusader for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) you might wish to gain more insight on the subject by web searching the following -- Peta.org 'what's wrong with wearing wool?' as according them it too is a NO - NO based on their ideology. Just thought I'd share that with you with no intention of debate.
DeleteSo nice!

Best list I have seen this year!!! Happy Holidays to you and Mr. Slipper Socks!
ReplyDeleteThank u!!!!
DeleteYou are really shooting yourself in the foot with your political silliness on your other social media platforms, but it must be really seriously important to you to get these things off your chest and out into the world.
ReplyDeleteI am confused. What does this post has to do with this CDT Christmas List.
DeleteTo Letty:
DeleteWhen people post these "shopping/gift suggestions" on their blogs, they get some small remittance if someone clicks on the link to buy an item. If you have alienated half your audience, you will have less readers on the whole and therefore less buyers of products.
My feeling is that Joni is not counting on those "small remittance" to pay her mortgage and the blog is just as much fun for her as it is for the readers. As for people with different political affiliation: Most mature people develop thick skin and do not get upset because someone does not think like they do politically. I patronize businesses whose owners support a different political party than I do, if I like what they sell or the service they provide. I am very much against using animals for fur and I am fortunate to live in a town that is close to farms that raise and slaughter animals humanely. Joni had several links to businesses selling fur: I won't buy them and I dislike seeing their promotion but I still like the blog and Joni's style. I am sure she does not like everything I post either but she does not block me out. It is just how life is. As long as someone is not screaming fire on a crowded theater, I say live and let live.
DeleteI have read Joni's twitter for the last couple years, and it's not only political, it's off the rails at times. It's spilling into her Instagram also. I could give a flying, but it seems a pity that someone would taint a beautiful brand that she had worked on for so long. It seems a pity that it's more important to her to get her beefs off her chest and out into the world, than to keep her brand "clean" as my blogging friend calls it, but, hey, to each their own. I hope it makes her feel better.
DeleteYes. My Twitter is my explosion get it off my chest. Everyone knows that. Am I not allowed to have a political opionion and share it? As for commissions, I only wish I was making a tenth of the money that all the design bloggers are making. Actually the commissions I make through the blog are nice to pay a few bills and order Favor. I think of it as getting paid for blogging. I spend so much time doing it that it’s nice to some compensation. I have tried to keep the blog honest. It’s hard in a world of social media where it’s all about vanity and money. Lisa hates my list. I’m going to do one with only her choices. Friendly competition with my bestie
DeleteYes, it's a free country and, of course, you're free to have a political opinion, share it, and present yourself to the world in any fashion that you see appropriate.
DeleteI think I explained why some might see it as not such a good idea.
Why can]t you make as much money as "the design boggers"? Aren't you a design blogger?
What is Favor?
Who is Lisa?
Oh people said the most horrible things about me because I wrote about Ivanka dressing her son like Prince George. I was accused of exploiting children. As if. The vitriol was off the charts. What I wrote was not about the children at all, it was about the mother who is a employee of mine, yours, and them. Frankly, people were so rude to me while accusing me of being rude because I wrote Who Wore It Better in a way that made it obvious I"m a democrat. The hatred towards me was shocking. Whatever. Moving on - I don't make nearly as much on my blog, not even close because I don't blog every day. I don't chose to. I don't have nearly the size of audience because my stories are longer and don't appeal to the masses. I'm' not as talented as other big design bloggers. They are better designers, bigger designers, and more interesting than me. I'm more of a critic. I'm not as professional as they are. Also, my blog isn't a professionally designed blog because I haven't wanted to spend the money on getting a fancy pants blog which really seems to me to be more confusing to read. Let's see - what else? I don't employ anyone that helps me with the blog. It's just me and me alone. No staff. To make big money I'd have to really change my blog and I"m not sure I'm capable of it. Favor is a food delivery service/app. Lisa is my bff who helped me with this list because she likes to keep up with things like Oprah's favorites type of lists. She's been mad at me because I didn't use a lot of her items so I think I might do another xmas list just showing all of Lisa's top picks. Just so that she will quit bugging me! haha. She's been driving me insane over my list saying it was no good and hers would have been so much better!! LOL
ReplyDeleteJoni, dark hates light. Thank you for brushing off nasty remarks. Stay authentic (as if I need to ask). Life is too short to bother with fake people. Wishing you wonderful holidays. I love your blog. It is the only one I read :-) You manage to make it educative, fun and funny.
DeleteThe nasty remarks are not coming from just one side.
DeleteI am confused. What does this post has to do with this CDT Christmas List.

ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the list, Joni! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOURS. -Brenda-
ReplyDeleteWhat is this? Clueless.
ReplyDeleteJoni,
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for years! IMO you don't have to take a back seat to anyone! I can imagine the effort that you put into these amazing and detailed posts! Please keep doing what you are doing. (And exactly which shade of the Tillesbury is your favorite?)
Joni ~ I love your blog and your style and all the interesting things you bring my way ~ the humor helps too. Thanks for it all. I don't do all the instagram and twitter ~ Although I'm constantly being told that as a designer, I need to. Maybe in 2019. But the point is, if I were on those platforms and enjoyed your blog but not your political posts, Well, I think then the thing to do is just not follow you on those platforms right.... I've read in the past that you identified your cyber stalker but I swear ~ I've never seen an adult put so much energy into following someone just to critique them. It's bizarre really. Be safe ~ and again ~ I truly enjoy your blog and in many ways because you HAVEN'T changed it like so many have. THANK YOU. And Happy Holidays. TJF
ReplyDeleteI hope you read this. I just saw it today. Thank you so much for your sweet words!!! They mean so much to me. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!!!
