The first piece of business today – we have Week Four of The Skirted Roundtable up on the blog here.    Wow – hard to believe it’s already been four weeks!  Time flies when you are having a blast.   The three of us have loved yakking it up and we hope you have enjoyed listening to us.   We feel truly grateful for your listening – we know you all have busy lives and it does take a certain amount of commitment to tune in, so thank you for your continued support.   The first topic this week  – Paint and Colors - is up now, while the second topic – Advertising On Blogs - will be available in the next day or two.

The second piece of business today - I’ve said it before, blogging has brought so many wonderful friendships – both real and virtual – into my life, something I never anticipated would be a such a large and fulfilling part of the process.  I have met so many nice, interesting and selfless people through this blog and the experience has taught me much about humanity:  people are genuinely kind and giving.   Yesterday is a perfect example of this:    I came home to an unexpected gift, via Fed Ex, from a fellow blogger, the artist Fifi Flowers.   I am so overwhelmed by her gesture – two art pieces created especially for me, and without my even asking her do so!  A kinder act, I can’t imagine.

  image

The first piece is familiar to readers, Fifi  - inspired by a Cote de Texas story of a shopping trip to an antique store - created this charming painting.

image

And – enclosed in the package was a real surprise – Fifi’s interpretation of the cover of  Houston House and Home with my two dogs – Sammie Jo and Georgie!!!   Isn’t this the absolute cutest!??!!!!

Thank you Fifi from the bottom of my heart!    Your generosity truly overwhelmed me.     I am so thrilled you did this and can’t wait to get them framed and hung.  Thank you, again, my friend.    To see more of Fifi Flower’s work, please visit her Etsy shop here and her blog here.    You can purchase paintings already created or, if you prefer, Fifi does commissions, specializing in pet portraits, interiors, and vacation memories.

And finally today, for Houstonians – this weekend, Sunday May 17, is the return of the great outdoors show – The Urban Market - the best antique shopping venue in Houston.   The list of dealers keeps getting better with each show:   this Sunday, friends of Cote de Texas with booths include:

Antiques & Interiors on Dunlavy with Mona Dees,   Carolyn Westbrook Home,   Empress of the Eye - Jane Schott,  Ginger Barber,  Janet Wiebe from Austin!, Maison Maison, The Gray Door, and extra special Cote de Texas favorites – Sally Wheat and The Fabulous Flea,  along with two of my favorite Houston bloggers  – Carolina Saunders (Carolina Eclectic) and Paloma Contreras (La Dolce Vita) plus tons and tons of other dealers.  This show promises to be a not-to-be-missed event!!!

I want to introduce a new sponsor to Cote de Texas readers – The Highboy Antiques Simplified

image

The Highboy is an online antique and fine art shop – an internet marketplace where curated antique and art dealers sell their wares.   The Highboy is the brainchild of Douglas and Olga Granda-Scott who comes from a family of well known and highly respected antique dealers.  Having been brought up in the business, Olga now lends her young and fresh eye when choosing dealers for The Highboy.

The – “Antiques Simplified” says it all.  It’s highly user-friendly – you can search for what you are looking for, using tight specifics or more general terms.  In addition – The Highboy gathers items in design groups - such as mirrors or lighting – for quick searches.

Their weekly emails are also helpful – arrays of items are shown – put together in such a way to create an entire room’s décor like this mid century dining room:

They group newly arrived items together – for easy perusal:

And I love this the best – they have designers choose their favorite items on The Highboy – such as Kerry Howard here:

.

This was particularly fun – shopping The Highboy to recreate Brooke Shields fabulous NYC apartment decorated by India Hick’s partner:

And, there is their blog – The Weekly – with fabulous stories about antiques and décor.

If you are a designer – be sure to join The Highboy’s Designers Club for trade prices and early access to sales HERE.  In addition – there is the Concierge Service that will help you find specific items for specific jobs – before they are even offered on web site.

A BRAND NEW AIDAN GRAY GIVEAWAY TO END ALL GIVEAWAYS!

Over the years, many of us bloggers have developed working relationships with certain decor companies.  It’s only natural, as we are always writing about lamps and sofas, paints and wallpapers.    One of the companies that I’ve been connected with is Aidan Gray – the decor and furniture merchandiser.   For some reason, the owner, Randal Weeks, and I just clicked when he realized that I was obsessed with the product that he designs.

We formed a professional friendship over our love of French decor.  Later, Aidan Gray became an advertiser on Cote de Texas and then,  I was beyond thrilled when Randal designed a new sconce and named it after me:

The Joni:

The two lights version HERE

And the three lights “Joni” version, HERE

It’s so great to be immortalized, especially when the product is so beautiful!!

For years Aidan Gray was known for its French styled furniture, lighting and accessories – many with chippy, hand painted, and white-washed finishes.   Lately, in a sign of the times and an appreciation of millenniums and their aesthetic, Aidan Gray has launched a more modern look.

But, while the new looks are popular, the painted finishes remain in great demand and they actually look great when the two aesthetics are mixed together.

One of Aidan Gray’s most successful lines is their lighting division:  lamps, chandeliers, and sconces.

And this is where the new giveaway comes in.

We are calling the new giveaway:

“AIDAN GRAY WITH AN EDGE”

or better known as Hashtag #AGwithanedge

IN APPRECIATION OF YOUR INTEREST THROUGH THE YEARS…..

AIDAN GRAY AND COTE DE TEXAS WILL BE HOSTING A GIVEAWAY OF

FIFTEEN -15

– YES, YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY –

FIFTEEN

AIDAN GRAY LIGHT FIXTURES WILL BE GIVEN AWAY TO 15 LUCKY READERS!!!!

FIFTEEN

Some of these 15 are actually PAIRS, as in PAIRS of lamps or PAIRS of sconces.

The story behind the giveaway is a little long, so I am breaking it up into two parts.

Today, is the introduction:

AIDAN GRAY WITH AN EDGE:

HASHTAG #AGwithanedge

Over the years, I have hosted a few notable giveaways and one of the best and most popular ever was the “Aidan Gray Catalogue Giveaway.”

When the time came for Randal Weeks to photograph the newest catalogue for Aidan Gray, he came up with an idea.  Usually, the catalogue was staged and photographed at the Week’s own beautiful house:

Randal and his wife had bought this house and then totally renovated it. Here, steel doors were added at both ends of the Entry Hall, and a large skylight was installed in the ceiling.   The house would be staged with the newest A/G merchandise and then it was professionally photographed for each A/G catalogue.

All the rooms, including the Living Room, were styled with Aidan Gray merchandise and then photographed.   This is my favorite room!!!  I love the way Randal styled this room!

Even the remodeled kitchen was photographed for the catalogues.  After the renovation, it now has two marble topped islands along with metal shelves.

In the master bedroom, an Aidan Gray bench and chaise were used in this photograph, along with sconces and lamps.

And the pool house was also used as a setting for the catalogues.  Each year, Randal would fill it up with the latest pieces from the Aidan Gray line and then it would be photographed.

And so, when the time came to design the newest catalogue, Randal had a lightbulb go off in his head.  Why not do something completely different instead of using his own house for the newest catalogue?

And, so the Cote de Texas giveaway was born.

Randal and I got together and came up with the contest.  We would have Cote de Texas readers submit photographs of their own house in hopes of winning the contest.  The three winners would then have their house photographed by Aidan Gray for the new catalogue.

Needless to say, the giveaway was a huge hit and over 60 people sent in photographs of their house, hoping to be a winner.

I had the most fun – looking at all the photos!!!   I narrowed down the submissions and then let Randal and his wife be the final judges.  They picked three houses and he set up appointments to photograph their houses.

Here is the story of the winners of the Home Styling giveaway HERE.

Before the photos were taken, Randal drew up preliminary plans for each room:

For this winner who submitted the photo of her entry hall, Randal drew up a plan incorporating Aidan Gray merchandise.  And, below is the entry hall, styled and photographed by Randal Weeks for the new A/G catalogue:

I loved this photo!   Randal took a pretty entry hall and turned it into an even prettier room!!!  I loved the orange pillows, the orange trim, and the orange in the rug and flowers.

This family room was picked by Randal Weeks for the catalogue.  He initially planned to photograph it with French inspired A/G merchandise, but that all changed:

Here, the final photograph showed that Randal used A/G’s new modern line of chairs, along with the French bench.  A/G sconces and lamps were also used.

This dining room was a blank slate.  The homeowner told Randal Weeks that she had always dreamed of having the room faux painted.  She was shocked when Randal showed up the next day with Leslie of Segreto Finishes who brought along her crew from Houston to paint the dining room!

And, here is the finished dining room as photographed for the catalogue.  The walls were painted by Segreto and the room was filled with A/G furniture.  An A/G chandelier and sconces were used, along with furniture and accessories.  This was my favorite winner in the catalogue giveaway!  I loved this room!!

Another view of the dining room with this vignette accessorized with A/G urns and sconces and furniture.

In the same house, Randal Weeks also photographed their kitchen for the catalogue, adding A/G bar stools, chandelier and accessories.

And, in the same house, this BEFORE photograph shows the lucky winner’s family room before it was also painted by Segreto Finishes!

I love the final look with the A/G benches, chairs, table, and accessories.

And here’s a close up of the bookshelves – and the paint treatment done by Segreto.  She was such a lucky homeowner!!

There were many more rooms in different houses that were photographed for that catalogue giveaway.  It remains one of my most favorite contests ever.

After the contest was over, I wrote another story showing all the final rooms that were photographed.  And then, for the next few months – I shared photographs from some of the houses that were runners-up.

All in all it was a really fun giveaway that the readers enjoyed almost as much as me!!

Which brings me to today and our new giveaway “Aidan Gray With An Edge”

I was so excited to hear from Randal Weeks a few weeks ago with a new idea for another giveaway contest.

It all starts with this house:

A while ago, the Weeks purchased this beautiful, but run-down, Tudor house in High Point, North Carolina.  The plans were to totally renovate it and then fill it with Aidan Gray furniture, thereby creating a nice home-away-from-home for all the times that the Weeks and their friends spend at the High Point market.

And here is the newly restored facade of the Tudor house today, with a beautiful blanket of snow and new gray paint.

The house is completed now and filled with Aidan Gray furniture.   Of course, Randal had it photographed to show all the amazing changes in the house and how all the Aidan Gray pieces made it look  that much better.

In the next few days – I will show you these before and after photographs of the house.

And then we will ask you, the reader, to submit a photograph of a room or vignette in your own house – and explain how you would use an Aidan Gray light fixture to upgrade that vignette.

Hopefully, you will get inspiration from Randal’s new High Point house OR you might have your own ideas!!

After you put together your inspiration photo – you will put it on Instagram with the Hashtag

“#AGwithanedge”

The contest will be fun because all the entries will be on Instagram and everyone will be able to see them all!!

Here is my own entry in the contest showing my entry hall with an Aidan Gray chandelier that would make the area look much better.  I used the Pic-Stitch app to make this photograph.

We will have instructions on how to create your own inspiration photo on the next story.

So…stay tuned for Part II of the new Aidan Gray Giveaway story.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again  - you make so many great friends through the power of the blog - some are virtual friends, some you meet in real life.     First up – take a look at this:

image

My great blogging friend, Artie Vanderpool who writes Color Outside The Lines, dedicated his “Tablescape Thursday” to ME!!!   He designed an entire tablescape based on the Cote de Texas “style.”   Just look at the details he incorporated – all things I love:  the white slipcovers (that he made himself) with downy cushions, a skirted table – based on a Pam Pierce design that I adore, fleur de lis dishes, seafoam checked napkins, blue and white porcelains, pink peonies – he just totally nailed my look.  Thank you Artie for this – you have to be the sweetest man in Niagara Falls, if not the state of New York, or maybe the entire United States.   To read Artie’s article, go here.

image Cote de Texas inspired “Tablescape Thursday” by Color Outside The Lines.

And tonight, interior design GREAT - Ms. Bunny Williams - came to Houston’s MECOX to show off her new line of furniture.  It was wonderful saying “Howdy” to Ms. Williams and seeing her entire collection of BeeLine Home merchandise up close and personal.    But, for me, the best part of the evening was meeting up with the two original Cote de Texas stalkers – Cindy and V.   We three go way back now – I’ve told you about them before, but in case you forgot -  one day these two women showed up on my front porch to stalk me – all in good fun.   We’re old friends now and tonight I was thrilled that they came and kept my poor, miserable, insecure self company.  Thanks y’all.   I owe you big time!!!     The evening was just fabulous until Cindy (Stalker #1) decided to knock over an expensive glass vase with her huge purse thus causing everyone to turn around and stare at us.   Luckily the vase didn’t break – thank God!!!!!!   Cindy and V – y’all are the best stalkers in the world, a blogger couldn’t ask for anything better and I mean it from my heart!  I love y’all!!

image Mecox – new to Highland Village in Houston.  If you haven’t been, go.  You’ll love it.

 image

From BeeLine Home – the famous scalloped edged sofa in velvet.  The lamp, table and throw are BeeLine Home, too, as are the crewel pillows - V. really loved those!

The Ebony Anglo coffee table is a knock out in person.   I can see Bunny using this in her house in Punta Cana – read what I wrote about it here.

Bunny’s BeeLine Home logo was on the matchboxes.  Too cute.

image

OK, what is it????  Any clue?

It’s for the powder room – to secret away rolls of toilet paper!    Great idea!

Ms. Williams flashing her adorable dimples.

Need you even ask?    Of course I was too shy to take a picture with her.  Remember when I told you that I had finally conquered a lifetime of shyness – well, I think I need to go back to school.    Boy, I really am the shyest, most insecure person in the world and tonight proved it!  I mean – I had a million things to tell Bunny – things she REALLY needed to hear from me!!!!    Important things like – her book “An Affair With a House” is my second favorite design book after John Stefanidis’ own “Living By Design.”  “And by the way” (I would have asked her this if I wasn’t such a shy dork) “were you inspired by Stefanidis’ book when you wrote your own?”    Oh, I had a list of things to talk to her about – her husband, John Rosselli, for example.   I would have told her how wonderful he is (as if she needs ME to tell her that)  – what an inspiration he is with his lighting and furniture lines.    She’ll just have to wait for another time to hear all my pearls of wisdom.   Cindy and V. don’t have to wait – they get to hear my great b.s. whenever they want!

The famous Cote de Texas stalkers, great friends, and the sweetest people in the world.  Cindy, the klutz, on the left, and V. on the right, working on her second toddy.

That’s right, big shot,  hide behind that huge ol’ camera acting like you are an older version of another inquiring photographer:

I’ll bet SHE would have had the nerve to ask Bunny what Sister Parish REALLY was like!!!

It Was A Very Good Year

Hello, it’s Joni – the face behind Cote de Texas.  I thought I‘d introduce myself for once – all professionally photoshopped, with 54 year old wrinkles and jowls miraculously removed and my image stretched vertically to make me look less……horizontal!    Thank God for photoshop!   Signing off on 2008 brings thoughts of this past year – a year in which Cote de Texas played a huge part in my life.   So many wonderful things have come my way because of this little design blog – the friendships made in real life and through emails, the support you brought with each and every comment (except that occasional nasty Anonymous!) and then there was the wealth of knowledge that came from reading your own blogs about design in your lives.  It’s a small, but growing community – the design blogs – a sisterhood (and brotherhood) dedicated to our homes and our love for them and for those of our friends.

Cote de Texas has become a passion – something which I feel a great responsibility to.   I think about it a lot, questioning my ability to keep you entertained:  what I will find to write about next, will I ever think of anything decent to blog about again?  Just knowing you are out there, clicking onto an old post drives me mad – I wish I could have something interesting and new to post three times a day, but three times a week is more the reality, unfortunately.

Sometimes what goes on behind the scenes is funnier than what is written.   This year – the award for absurdity goes to a homeowner who shall remain nameless.  When I received gorgeous real estate photographs of her house in an email, and was informed it was up for sale – I naively shared it with you, of course!   The homeowner quickly wrote me, aghast, and demanded to know if I had broken into her home and taken pictures of it!!!  Uh, no.   I’m not THAT crazy for a new story line!    What a headline that would make:

Desperate for a new topic, blogger Cote de Texas broke into a Houston mansion to steal pictures of it to show her readers.   Arrested, she remains in jail, unable to post bail – her funds all dried up due to her incessant purchasing of French antiques.”

OK.  I’ll admit to suffering from writer’s block now and then, but trust me people, your homes are safe from me!   But, finding new topics to write about became somewhat harder this year.  2008 was the year of the Design Blog explosion.  Every day brought a new and exciting design blog to read and with each new blog, the competition for fresh material became just a little bit more intense.  I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve started to write about something, only to discover three other bloggers had already covered the subject, and more adequately, too.  Still, somehow I managed to write a number of columns that you found interesting judging from the amount of comments and emails it garnered.   So, here, is a recap of 2008’s more popular Cote de  Texas stories.   I hope you enjoy revisiting these with me.  Follow the RED links to reread the story in its entirety, if you so desire.  And my favorite picks of the 2008 design blogs follows.

Katrina refuges seek shelter in the Houston Astrodome.

I learned a big lesson this year.  Politics and design blogging don’t mix!   Not everyone, by a long shot,  who reads this blog wanted to hear how great Obama was.  Trust me on this!    When I wrote about President Bush and Hurricane Katrina in Gustav – The Bad, boy were the comments heated!  Quite a few of you threatened to never read my blog again after that post!   But it worked both ways.  A Republican blogger friend suffered the same exact threats from Democrats.   I learned, I learned!

image

Kelly Wearstler, noted designer and author, is just one of the many famous interior designers fined in Florida.

The one story that truly resonated with readers and created the most comments was ASID – An Agency Out of Control - a post written about Kelly Wearstler, among other notables, being fined in Florida for practicing without a license.   I was stunned to learn what is happening to interior designers in Florida and other states and it was a real eye opener to read how intrusive ASID has become.   Readers mostly agreed, though some pro-ASID people left comments too.  To date, there have been more than 200 comments left, debating the issue of the state licensing of interior designers.  The battle still rages on, but the anti-ASID side seems to be making the most strides.

Hunkering Down with Ike

Another popular storyline and a more poignant one was the series about Hurricane Ike.   I was deeply touched by all the well wishes and prayers you sent our way during Ike.   I can’t express how much your comments meant to my family, even though I didn’t have the electricity to read them and had to resort to using my car battery to charge up my laptop!  As I write this now, our fence is finally being replaced from Ike’s damage – but we were the lucky ones.   Galveston and Bolivar Island suffered greatly and still suffer today.

image

The beautiful oaks trees and houses of Galveston’s Historical  District.

Remember those beautiful trees from the Historical Districts in Galveston that you commented on?    All those gorgeous trees are now dead, killed by the salt water during Ike.   I can’t bear to think how terrible it must be for that neighborhood, many of those oak trees were planted right after the Great Storm.   In an interesting side note to the Galveston story, one reader was motivated by the pictures to purchase a second home in the historical district!  Lucky girl!

image

The Wheat’s beautiful kitchen.

So many of you enjoyed Stalking the Wheats in West University and at their Beach House – Bolivar Style.   I still get emails about their house and specifically their kitchen paint color:  Benjamin Moore Fieldstone, btw!  In all – those two stories generated lots of comments and private emails and Sally Wheat became a bit of a celebrity with Cote de Texas readers.  Luckily their Bolivar beach house survived Ike.

image

The Toile Peugeot!

New Car Blues (and white) was another one you commented on.   But more interesting was the fact that so many design bloggers love the vintage Jeep Wagoneer.  Let’s start a petition to bring it back!

Virtual Beach House #1 versus

image

Virtual Beach House #2

I never can anticipate what story you will like or reject, and sometimes your choice is surprising.  One such surprise was My Virtual Beach House.  Apparently, everyone has dreams of one day furnishing a second home too!    You voted on whether you liked Beach House #1 or #2 best.  House #2 won.

image

The beautiful living room from the popular movie Something’s Gotta Give.

My all-time favorite topic to write about is the Something’s Gotta Give beach house – and I’ve done it as much as humanly possible.  So many people had emailed me about that house that I decided to write a blog on how to achieve the same look in your own home in Beach House-Series #4, Hamptons House.   My dream is to one day write an entire book about that movie beach house!!

image

Nancy Lancaster’s Famous Butta Yellow Drawing Room

The answer to that aged-old decorating dilemma – To Clutter or Not to Clutter remains elusive to me and, apparently,  to lots of you too!!  It seems a number of people can’t decide if they want to live in a cozy, cluttered home or in a slick, clean and spare interior.  I’m still undecided – what about you?

image

The Infamous Miles Redd Slipcover

When Decorno wrote that she hated this skirted table in a Miles Redd interior, I felt a need to defend it in Skirted Tables.   After Decorno responded, the war of words was on and comments flew from my blog to hers and back again.   Never has such a silly topic gotten so heated!

image

And finally - Thank Yous to Bloggers, Readers, and Stalkers!, a recap of the year’s emails and gifts I received deserves a reading if you missed it the first go round.  If you have ever sent me a picture of your home, it probably was included here!

Here is my list of favorite new blogs in 2008.   There is one for each month – it was hard to limit it to just 12, all the new blogs are great!!!  In no particular order, in fact the last one is favorite:

Velvet and Linen – What can I say about Brooke Giannetti?  Beautiful, talented, sweet, warm.  Her blog is phenomenal, her talent even more so.  The first time I read hers I thought, “well, it’s been fun writing mine.”  Brooke lives a fairy tale life in two beautiful homes she and her architect husband created.  Read it and often – you will be amazed.

Visual Vamp – Another dynamo, Valorie Hart is an interior designer, florist, tango dancer, inn keeper – you name it, she’s done it.  Her blog is the stream of consciousness that flows from her intellectual brain.  I adore her!

Cheap Chic – A 17 year old writes about fashion.  OK, it’s not design, but she’s my daughter!!!!!  oy!

The Lettered Cottage – Layla is redoing her darling cottage and we get front row seats.  Catch her now – she’s probably going to be HGTV’s next Design Star!!!

Color Outside the Lines -  Artie, working and decorating and gardening in upstate New York.   He’s a doll – the sweetest there is.

Simply Seleta – Seleta lives in Florida’s wonderful northwest area.  Beautiful with 4 beautiful little ones living in a beautiful house.

Renee Finberg – is an interior designer from Florida.  A wealth of knowledge, her blog is exotic and heady.  Worth a daily visit!

Lime in the  Coconut – Florida again.  Linda writes about beaches, hotels in sunny spots, her house, and her tropical style.  Delightful!

Canyon Wren Cottage – Texas!  Austin!  A recap of real estate happenings in the Hill Country.

Willow Decor – Swedish gray and white all the way.   Lots of yummy eye candy.

Harmony and Home – A Californian interior designer blogs about interior design.   Rebecca’s story on the Golden Mean is first rate.

French Essence – France, Provence, Vicki Archer, The Book, The Blog – Vicki leads the life we all dream for!!!!

Here is wishing all of you and yours a Happy and Very Healthy New Years!!!!    I am looking forward to sharing 2009 with all of you!!!

Jamie Goldberg,  a NKBA-certified, independent kitchen designer, from Tampa Florida,  writes the blog Gold Notes.   Jamie was kind enough to offer to scout out the latest KBIS, which stands for the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show, to look for new products that Cote de Texas readers might be interested in.   Here, Jamie presents what she found.   Be sure to pay her blog a visit for more goodies she discovered.     Thank you Jamie!!!!

image A beautiful kitchen, designed by Jamie Goldberg.  Be sure to visit her web site to see more of her portfolio.

Jamie Goldberg writes:

Before I headed to Atlanta for the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show, I promised Joni I’d keep my eye out for products I thought fellow Cote de Texas readers would enjoy, particularly those featuring the old world elegance she brings you in so many of her blog images and postings…

So here are my KBIS bons bons. Hope you enjoy!

AND THE AWARD GOES TO…

This beautiful range hood won the Best of KBIS “People’s Choice Award,” and it’s easy to see why. The Star by Elica is all glamour and glitz. It’s neither practical nor powerful -- at only 350 recirculating CFM, it barely outpulls an over-the-range microwave -- but it sure is pretty!

KBISCdT-ElicaStar http://elica.com/

MOTIVO MAGNIFICENCE

Caesarstone is well known for high-style stone countertops. Last year, they introduced their exquisite jeweled Concetto series. This year, they’ve outdone themselves with Motivo, a delicately-embossed surface that tops cabinets or resurfaces walls and furniture. It still brings the durability and easy-maintenance of quartz, but now it looks like nothing you’ve seen before and can’t get enough of. Can’t wait to use this in a client’s home!

KBISB-Motivo http://www.caesarstone.com/

ROYAL FLUSH

These beautiful Waza Collection Miyabe commodes and pedestal sinks from Japanese plumbing leader Toto would enhance any throne room, in my opinion. They’re hand-painted porcelain and evoke images of historic Japan.

QUE SEURA SEURA

Another Best of KBIS product award winner, Seura’s mirrors lead a secret life. When they’re not reflecting your visage, they’re broadcasting your favorite channel. Yes, Seura makes those clever televisions-concealed-in-mirrors you may have encountered in a hotel room. The bons bons for Cote de Texas followers are the beautiful frames they’re now adorned in. The view never looked so good before!

MASTER SWEET

Imagine yourself tucked comfortably into your master suite at the end of a very long day. The kids are asleep. You’re finally relaxed – and thirsty! But the kitchen is downstairs at the other end of the house. You step into your master bath instead and pour a glass of fresh, cold water from your beautiful faucet. Your beautiful filtered faucet, that is. No chlorine after-taste, and no ugly spigot or plastic attachment to mar your magnificent remodel. Rohl has introduced a line of traditional lavatory faucets with integrated filters.

HARP WARMING

It will warm your heart and towels, while delighting your eye with its lovely lines. The Adagio by Turkish manufacturer Termosan Inc. brings form to function and delightful whimsy to your master suite.

PORTO CALLING

I found myself very drawn to Portuguese manufacturer Cifial’s Porto collection of door hardware, especially in the company’s Rough Bronze finish. They have an old world quality that transports you to another time and place. Imagine turning the handle and stepping into Renaissance era Lisbon. I can easily see a pair of these on the entry to a traditional-styled, grand master suite. I haven’t specified this line before, but I’m looking forward to doing so soon!

These are just a few of the great products on display at North America’s largest kitchen and bath trade show. Maybe you’ve seen its hour long special on HGTV before. These are the pieces I thought Cote de Texas readers might enjoy most.
